Mercedes-Benz S 63 E Performance launched in India at Rs 3.3 crore: Most powerful S-Class ever

Mercedes-Benz India today announced the launch of the Mercedes-Benz S 63 E Performance in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 3.3 crores. The luxury sports sedan is now the flagship in the S-Class range and is the most powerful S-Class ever. It’s also the second plug-in hybrid Mercedes in India after the GT63 S E Performance.
In terms of styling, the new S 63 E Performance features AMG-specific design language.It gets a Panamericana grille at the front with sporty bumpers with large air intakes on both ends. At the rear, it gets a re-designed bumper with AMG specific rear diffuser with quad exhaust pipes.

Customers can also opt for a night exterior package which brings in dark chrome or gloss black highlights. It also gets a carbon-fibre package that adds carbon-fibre trims on the front bumper, wing mirrors, side sills and rear diffuser. The luxury sport sedan gets S 20-inch, multi-spoke alloys as standard and customers can also choose optional 21-inch wheels. optional.
Moving inside, the overall layout is similar to the S-Class but the S 63 gets AMG-specific bits to make the interior look sporty. The sedan features an all-black interior with a new four-spoke AMG steering wheel and AMG-spec pedals. It gets a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with new MBUX software which includes AMG and hybrid-specific displays and functions. Other features include a digital instrument cluster, 4-zone climate control, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, Level-2 ADAS and much more.

Mercedes-AMG is also offering executive lounge seats, a rear seat entertainment package, an augmented reality heads-up display with 3D graphics, a removable tablet, folding tables and various options of Nappa leather interior upholstery options.
The S 63 E Performance is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with an electric motor. The e-motor produces 190hp and 320Nm and the combined total system output is rated at 802hp of power and a massive 1430Nm of torque. The electric motor is powered by a 13.1kWh battery and has claimed 33 km of pure electric range.

The engine comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels via a 4-Matic system. Mercedes claims that the sedan can sprint from 0-100 kph in 3.3 seconds. It also gets eight drive modes and rear-axle steering with up to 3-degrees of steering angle. Air suspension, active roll bars, and carbon ceramic brakes can be had as optional extras.
