After months of speculations followed by a last-minute leak, Microsoft has announced plans to bring this year’s Call of Duty release to Xbox Game Pass on day one! It’s the news Sony had been dreading, and why Xbox Series X|S might finally be able to do some damage to the PS5 and its market dominance. In a new live action trailer ahead of the Xbox Showcase on June 9, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 was officially revealed by Microsoft and Activision. The video, which is titled “The Truth Lies”, tells viewers to look in the dark when seeking the truth. It ends by confirming that Black Ops 6 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. Sadly, if you’re looking for some Black Ops 6 gameplay footage, you’ll need to wait until June 9.
The Xbox Games Showcase will take place at 6pm BST UK time on the afternoon of Sunday, June 9.
Broadcast live on YouTube and other social media platforms, the Xbox Games Showcase will feature a shedload of announcements for upcoming Xbox exclusives, as well as news about big third-party titles launching in 2024 and beyond.
Essentially, it’s when Xbox users find out what they’ll be playing this Christmas, and what they can look forward to in 2025.
With more first-party games than ever, fans can expect the Xbox experience to get a whole lot better when the new games begin to launch.
Microsoft will host the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Direct conference immediately following the event, which is when we’ll be treated to gameplay.
While the new Call of Duty will also be available on PlayStation 5, PS5 users will have to pay full price for it.
As for the Xbox Games Showcase, fans can expect to find out more about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is tipped to launch in December.
With Bethesda recently revealing more about Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion, fans can expect a true gameplay reveal during the Xbox Games Showcase.
With Xbox games starting to launch on other platforms, don’t be surprised if Microsoft announces Starfield for PS5.
Other games tipped to appear at the Xbox Games Showcase include Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed and a new entry in the Gears of War series.
