5-star rated Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun now safer: Gets six airbags as standard

Volkswagen India has updated both the Virtus sedan and the Taigun SUV with six airbags as standard across all variants. With the addition of six airbags, the company has not increased the prices of both models. The price for the Virtus and Taigun start from Rs 11.56 lakh and 11.70 lakh (ex-showroom, respectively).

Until now, the Virtus and the Taigun only have six airbags on the top-spec variants.lower variants were only available with two airbags. Now six airbags are standard across all variants making both cars much safer. Both the Virtus and Kushaq are 5-star rated cars by Global NCAP, having secured that rating in just their dual airbag-spec.

The VW Virtus has scored 29.71 points out of a total of 34 in adult occupant protection tests and 42 points out of a total of 49 in child occupant protection. The Taigun on the other hand also gets similar results, has scored 29.64 points out of a total of 34 in adult occupant protection tests and 42 points out of a total of 49 in child occupant protection.

Talking about the powertrain, the Virtus and Taigun continue with the 115hp, 150Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 3-cylinder, engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic. The second engine is the 150hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG gearbox.
