Tata Altroz Racer launch tomorrow: Price expectation, features, engine, specifics

Tata Motors is finally launching the new Tata Altroz Racer in the Indian market. After teasing the hatch multiple times with each revealing design details and features, the hatch is all set to make its debut tomorrow i.e., June 7, 2024. The bookings for the sporty hatchback have already begun, Interested customers can book it online or by visiting their nearest dealership.

When launched, the Tata Altroz Racer will directly rival the i20 N-line and the prices are expected to start from Rs 9.8 lakh (ex-showroom). The Altroz racer is essentially a much sportier version of the regular variant and will feature a powerful engine, cosmetic tweaks, updated interior with new features and more. The Altroz Racer was first showcased at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo and later at this year’s Bharat Mobility Expo.

First, let’s talk about the powertrain itself, the Racer gets a more powerful engine compared to the regular Altroz. The racer is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cyl, turbo petrol engine which puts out 120 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It is also expected that Tata might offer the Altroz with the Dual-clutch DCA automatic gearbox but it’s not confirmed.

In terms of design, the Altroz Racer will feature re-designed front and rear bumpers with air intakes and, a refreshed front and radiator grille. It gets a new orange paint scheme with a contrasting black roof and dual white stripes running the length of the bonnet and roof. It gets black treatment for the roof, wing mirrors, window line and the A, B and C pillars including the integrated spoiler. It will also feature a shark-fin antenna and ‘Racer’ badging on the fender.

Moving inside, the Racer will feature a sporty interior with a black dashboard layout with coloured accents and contrast stitching for the seats and steering wheel. It also features coloured inserts and ambient lighting based on the exterior colour. The teaser also confirmed that the hatch will get an electric sunroof, other expected features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, a heads-up display and a voice-assisted sunroof, automatic climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, cruise control, parking sensors and more.
