Kia EV3 electric SUV prices announced globally: Costs as much as a Kia Seltos

Korean Automaker Kia showcased the Kia EV3 electric SUV concept in October 2023 at the brand’s EV Day in Korea and the production-ready model also made its debut a few days ago. And now, the company has revealed the prices of the Kia EV3 in South Korea. The EV3 is the entry-level electric SUV from Kia and is the smallest offering based on the E-GMP platform.

The E-GMP platform underpins other EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Kia EV6, Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70 and Genesis GV80. The Kia EV3 will go on sale in Korea by August 2024, followed by European and American markets. India launch is expected to take place sometime in 2025. When launched, it will directly compete with the BYD Atto 3 and other similarly priced EVs.

Talking about the prices in South Korea, the entry-level variant is priced at KRW 42.08 million (about Rs 25.60 lakh at current exchange rates). The Earth variant is priced at KRW 45.71 million (about Rs 27.80 lakh at current exchange rates) and the top-of-the-line GT-like and long-range variants are priced at KRW 46.66 million (about Rs 28.37 lakh at current exchange rates). In terms of design, the EV looks very similar to the concept version and takes heavy inspiration from the EV9.

At front, it gets blanked-off grille with tiger-nose inspired fascia and wide air inlets in the lower bumper. It gets cubical-shaped LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs. At the sides, the EV3 gets flared wheel arches with thick black plastic cladding and trapezoidal creases over the front and rear fenders. It also gets blacked-out alloy wheels with white inserts, blacked-out pillars, flush-fitting front door handles, and C-pillar-mounted rear door handles. Rear, it gets a bold tailgate with L-shaped LED taillamps extending on both ends. Other highlights include black cladding, a roof spoiler, a shark-fin antenna and more.

Moving inside, the EV3 again takes inspiration from the EV9. The dashboard layout consists of two main screens – 12.3-inch units for instrumentation and infotainment. It gets sleek AC vents running across the width of the dashboard with a neatly designed two-spoke steering wheel.

In terms of features, it gets a 12-inch heads-up display, ambient lighting, personal AI assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, floating centre console with cup holders, relaxation mode with streaming of video or games on the infotainment unit while the car is charging and much more.

AUTP

Talking about the powertrain and battery, the EV is offered with two battery pack options – 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. It comes paired with a front-axle mounted electric motor that puts out 201hp and 283Nm of torque. It has claimed 0-100kph sprint time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 170kph. The long-range variant with 81.4 kWh has a claimed range of 600 km WLTP cycle and the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 in 31 mins (claimed)
