8,406 challans in one sweep, 5,200 riders fined as Noida cops get super strict

In a rigorous traffic enforcement drive on Thursday, Noida and Greater Noida authorities penalized over 5,200 commuters for riding two-wheelers without helmets. Besides that, the traffic violations crackdown saw the issuance of 8,406 e-challans for various traffic violations.
According to the traffic police, the most significant number of e-challans—5,210—were issued for helmetless riding.Other notable violations included 942 for no parking, 589 for driving in the wrong lane, 293 for red light jumps, 263 for not wearing seat belts, 237 for faulty number plates, and 173 for triple riding on two-wheelers.
The campaign targeted key road stretches, intersections, and markets across the cities, focusing on high-traffic areas such as Attapir Chowk, Sector 62, Sector 39, Sector 125, Kisan Chowk, Surajpur Chowk, and Pari Chowk.

Additionally, 71 vehicle owners were fined for violating air pollution norms, 59 for driving or riding without a license, 63 for using mobile phones while commuting, and 42 for noise pollution. Another 464 violations fell under various other categories. Apart from all of these challans, the operation also resulted in the towing away of 32 vehicles, impounding of 46 vehicles, and the application of wheel clamps on 17 vehicles. 46 vehicles, including hatchbacks and SUVs, were impounded during this extensive operation.
As traffic violations continue to be a major threat to public safety, traffic police authorities have stepped up their vigilance. They are increasingly identifying and fining offenders using various methods, including camera monitoring and analyzing social media videos, which have seen a rise due to individuals performing dangerous stunts for online attention.
