Three terror associates arrested in Doda, two detained for questioning in Kathua | India News

JAMMU: J&K Police, which have launched a massive hunt along with other security agencies to trace the terrorists involved in four back-to-back attacks in Jammu earlier this month, have arrested three terror associates in Doda district and picked up two suspects in Kathua district for providing logistic support to the attackers in their respective areas.
Doda SSP Javed Iqbal said Sadar Wani, Mubashir and Sajjad provided food and logistic support to Pakistan-based terrorists in exchange for money. “The three men are residents of Draman in Tanta panchayat of Gandoh sub-division of the district,” he added.
Officials said the trio wasbeing questioned at the joint interrogation centre at the district headquarters to get details about the movements of terrorists, who were involved in June 12 attack on a cop, in the upper reaches of Gandoh. The terrorists had struck at Kota Top in Tanta area, injuring the special operations group (SOG) constable.
A day earlier, on June 11, five Army personnel and a special police officer were injured when terrorists fired upon them at Chattergala on the Bhaderwah-Bani road.
Security forces, including the Army, J&K Police and CRPF, launched a massive combing operation in both Bhaderwah and Gandoh following the twin terror attacks.
Kathua police have also picked up two persons for allegedly helping the terrorists involved in June 11 attack on a village flee into the forests.
Sources said Ashiq Ali and Maskeen Ali, both residents of Bathal Chak in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua, guided the terrorists to the house of a terror associate, where they stayed at night. Later, a terror guide allegedly helped them reach Udhampur, from where they proceeded to either Doda or Kashmir. Efforts are on to trace the terror guide, sources said.
Meanwhile, special DG of BSF’s Chandigarh-based Western Command, Y B Khurania, reviewed the security scenario along the India-Pakistan border during his two-day visit to the frontier that ended Friday.
Khurania visited the Samba area and was briefed about the operational preparedness of BSF along the borders, officials said.
