The two-week campaign was conducted from June 11 to June 25 to improve traffic management and reduce road accidents. Led by DCP (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav, the enforcement drive focused on curbing violations such as the unauthorized use of red and blue beacons, hooters/sirens, and police colours on vehicles. It also targeted vehicles improperly displaying caste and community stickers, as well as those falsely marked with ‘UP Government’ and ‘Government of India,’ except for contracted vehicles.
During the enforcement period, police recorded 1,604 violations for the unauthorized use of hooters, sirens, and red/blue beacons. Additionally, there were 371 instances of misuse of police colours on vehicles. Furthermore, 3,430 vehicles were found displaying caste and community stickers or unauthorized government markings, reported PTI.
“In total, the campaign resulted in 5,405 enforcement actions against various traffic offenses,” the police stated. DCP Yadav said that similar campaigns will continue in the future to ensure road discipline and commuter safety.
