The Hollywood film industry is mourning the loss of Jon Landau, the renowned producer of Oscar-winning films including ‘Titanic‘ and ‘Avatar‘. Following his sudden demise over the weekend at age 63, several film industry actors, filmmakers and friends have shared their heartfelt tributes, remembering Jon for his work over the years. A-List stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, and Sam Worthington, who worked closely with the producer on his many film projects, mourned his demise in touching statements.

His legacy and leadership will live on forever. My condolences are with his entire family. Rest in peace; you will be deeply missed.”
Kate Winslet, DiCaprio’s co-star in ‘Titanic’, also expressed her sorrow over the producer’s passing. Reflecting on Landau’s enduring passion for filmmaking, she stated, “Jon Landau was the kindest and best of men. He was a man rich with compassion and exceptional at supporting and nurturing teams of phenomenal creative people. His strength in life was knowing the importance of family, at home and at work. He was always full of smiles and gratitude. I can’t believe I am writing this, can’t believe he is gone.”Winslet, who has known Landau since she was 20, credited him with helping her rise to blockbuster stardom with the James Cameron-directed 1997 film. She also joined the blockbuster ‘Avatar’ franchise, playing a supporting role in the film.
Sam Worthington, who plays the role of Jake Sully in the Avatar series, also paid tribute to Landau. In a statement obtained by Deadline, he said, “Jon was all heart. He made everything and everyone he touched feel they could be better. He led with humour and strength, compassion and kindness. The People say all energy is borrowed and someday you have to give it back. I see you, Jon.”
Landau’s demise was confirmed by his son, Jamie Landau. He died on Friday in Los Angeles, though no cause was revealed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Born in New York on July 23, 1960, Jon’s career began with his first producer credit on Paramount’s Campus Man (1987), followed by co-producing films like ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ and ‘Dick Tracy’.
