Los Angeles Hopes to Get a Spark
The Los Angeles Sparks head into Saturday’s matchup in Dallas with two straight losses and four losses in their last five games. On Tuesday night, the Sparks lost at home to the Western Conference-leading Minnesota Lynx, 82-67. The Sparks shot just 41 percent from the floor overall including just 3-for-20 from 3-point range. They were led by Dearica Hamby‘s 18 points and eight rebounds. Hamby was the only double-digit scorer for the Sparks on the night.
The Sparks have split the season series thus far with the Wings, 1-1. They hope to end their own skid on Saturday against the flailing Wings. Los Angeles is ranked 11th in the WNBA in scoring this season. The Sparks are 10th in field goal shooting and seventh in 3-point shooting. They are seventh in 3-point field goals made per game as well. Defensively, the Sparks are 10th in scoring defense. They are 11th in field goal defense and last in the WNBA in 3-point defense. The Sparks are also just 10th in total rebounds per game and 10th in fewest turnovers in the league. The Sparks have a point differential of -7.0, good for 11th in the league.
Key Injuries: F Stephanie Talbot, G Lexie Brown and F Cameron Brink are out.
Wings Looking to Fly
The Dallas Wings have been battered by injuries this season and those injuries have translated to a miserable first half. The Wings have lost four of their last five games and are sinking fast in the Western Conference standings with roughly a week to go before the WNBA season takes a month off to allow their players to participate in the Olympics in France. On Sunday, the Wings were pummeled by two-time defending champion Las Vegas, 104-85, in Las Vegas. Odyssey Sims led the Wings with 25 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including 3-of-5 from long range. The Wings perimeter defense did them in, allowing 14 3-point field goals by the Aces.
The Wings come into this matchup at 5-18 overall and 3-6 at home. They are sixth in the WNBA in scoring this year. The Wings are fifth in field goal shooting and 10th in 3-point field goal percentage. They are also ninth in 3-point field goals made per game. On the defensive end, the Wings are 12th in scoring defense this season. They are 12th in field goal shooting defense and 9th in 3-point defense. The Wings are last in turnovers per game and last in point differential at -8.6. They are sixth in total rebounds.
Key Injuries: F Maddy Siegrist, F Satou Sabally, and G Jaelyn Brown are out.

This is the first of two games in Dallas between these two teams this season. They split the first two games in LA with the Wings squeaking out a one-point win and the Sparks following that up with a nine-point win. I like the Wings to pull out the victory in this game thanks to their advantage offensively. Both teams are terrible defensively with the Wings last in the WNBA in field goal defense and the Sparks checking in at 11th. The Wings are considerably better offensively than the Sparks, who rank 11th in the WNBA in scoring. Dallas also is the better of the two teams on the glass so they’ll get more opportunities to score in this game as well.
Take the Wings.
Prediction: Dallas

The Sparks have allowed 82 or more points in each of their last five games including two games over 90 points. The Wings’ defense has been even worse, allowing 95 or more points in each of their last four losses. In that time, the Wings have coughed up over 100 points two times. There should be a bevy of turnovers in a game featuring two of the league’s most turnover-prone teams so that should turn into easy baskets as well.
Take the over.
