‘Fear Was…’: Nag Ashwin Gets Candid On Filming Kalki 2898 I PRABHAS I DEEPIKA I AMITABH
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, director Nag Ashwin opened up on some of the questions, like why he didn’t give a face to Lord Krishna in the film.He said, “There was one thing I was very sure of right from the start, that we shouldn’t have something identifiable or an actor or a defining feature of Krishna, because we are saying that he’s God, and we thought the mystery would work if we don’t see that person.” Though it was rumoured that actor Nani would be stepping into the role of Lord Krishna in Kalki 2, Nag said, “It goes against the idea of an avatar or God, as you would expect that person to be born again.”
Another question that has been asked a lot, thanks to the film is about Karan’s superiority over Arjun, to which Nag said, “ I found it to be the most exciting confrontation, because I think the entire Mahabharata was about this confrontation. If you read the Mahabharata … it was always about when is Karan going to come on to the battlefield and for him to come, few individuals had to be vanquished and when he did come, even the Gods were waiting.”
“It would not be that battle if the two of them were not equally matched. Even reading about their bows- Gandiva and Vijaya always used to give me a huge kick. About Vijaya, it was described as’ till the time you hold it you can’t be defeated. So when you have that bow, how can Gandiva be superior to Vijaya. The only reason why Karna lost was because he had to put his bow down to remove the wheel of his chariot, “he added.
