Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur has been spotted shooting for the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 hit comedy film ‘Son of Sardaar’. In a video circulating online, Mrunal can be seen donning a traditional Punjabi attire – a red suit paired with a bright yellow jacket and heavy jewelry, perfectly embodying her character’s Punjabi avatar.
The sequel, which will feature Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt reprising their roles as Billu and Jassi, is set to commence a 50-day shooting schedule in the picturesque international landscapes .
In a significant change from the original film, Mrunal Thakur will be taking on the leading lady role, replacing Sonakshi Sinha. A source told Mid-Day, “While the characters of Billu and Jassi resonated with audiences, the dynamics between them will take a new turn. In Son of Sardaar, they clashed humorously; now, their rivalry will intensify, with Sanjay’s character leaning towards the antagonist role.”
Despite their on-screen rivalry, Ajay and Sanjay share a close bond off-screen, and Ajay has ensured that Sanjay has a significant role in this installment. The direction team has scouted and selected picturesque locations like Glencoe, Glenfinnan, Culross Palace, Doune Castle, Preston Mill, and Falkland Palace to set the stage for the film’s action and drama.
The sequel, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, marks nearly 12 years since the original film, where Ajay’s character hilariously tried to win Sonakshi Sinha’s hand by impressing her protective brother, played by Sanjay Dutt. While the release date is yet to be announced, fans can look forward to another unforgettable journey with Billu and Jass.
In addition to ‘Son of Sardaar 2‘, Mrunal Thakur has recently wrapped up the first schedule of David Dhawan’s comedy opposite Varun Dhawan.
