During a recent event at Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week 2024 on July 27th, the actress shared why she chose to wear her mother’s saree for her wedding.

The 37-year-old actress married Zaheer Iqbal in a low-key civil ceremony after seven years of dating, attended by close friends and family.

Sinha, known for her role in Dabangg, wore her mother Poonam Sinha’s saree and jewelry during the wedding ceremony. For the reception, she chose a red Banarasi saree. Sonakshi expressed that she was certain about wearing her mother’s saree and jewelry for the wedding, which was a personal decision brought to life on the day of the ceremony.
The actress shared that she felt completely at ease on her wedding day, as her outfit allowed her to breathe and move comfortably. This comfort enabled her to fully enjoy the day without any stress. She also remarked that the trend of being a “simpler but very beautiful bride” is likely to become popular in the future.
Zaheer Iqbal, the groom, wore an ivory-hued embroidered kurta-pajama for the signing ceremony and later changed into a white open jacket with a shirt and matching pants for the reception. Sonakshi mentioned that they chose his outfit quite easily, stating that they visited a designer friend, and Zaheer immediately decided on the first outfit he saw, highlighting their unfussy approach to the wedding attire.
On the work front, Sonakshi Sinha was last seen in Zee5’s Kakuda, where she starred alongside Riteish Deshmukh, Aasif Khan, and Saqib Saleem in key roles.
