Nissan X-Trail India launch tomorrow: Price expectation, features, engine and more

Nissan India is all set to launch the Nissan X-Trail SUV in the Indian market tomorrow i.e, August 1st, 2024. The bookings for the SUV are already underway, interested customers can book it online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The booking amount is set at Rs 1 lakh and the deliveries are expected to begin right after launch. The SUV will be brought to India via the CBU route and is expected to have a price tag of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).

The X-Trail was discontinued back in 2014, the first and second-generation models were sold here.Finally, after 10 years, the SUV is making a comeback and will compete with Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Tucson, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq and VW Tiguan. The Nissan X-Trail SUV, in its 4th generation, will be offered in a single variant with a 7-seater configuration. It will also be offered with a single engine option – which is also the world’s 1st production Variable Compression Turbo engine.

The Nissan X-Trail is based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-C platform jointly developed by Nissan and Renault. In terms of design, it features a split LED headlight setup with a large grille. It has 20-inch alloy wheels and will also feature LED taillights with an integrated spoiler and diffuser.

Moving inside, the SUV will feature two-tone black and tan leatherette, with silver accents all around. Features will include a free-standing 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech, three-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a powered tailgate, heated powered front seats with memory function, a 10-speaker premium Bose surround sound system, panoramic sunroof, fully digital instrument cluster, HUD display, ADAS, 360-degree camera and more.

Talking about the engine, it gets a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 163 hp of power and 300 nm torque. The engine features a variable compression ratio with a 12V mild-hybrid system. It comes paired with a CVT gearbox which sends power to front wheels.
