A royal insider has disclosed a shocking revelation in a new biography, stating that Prince William prohibited Meghan Markle from donning Princess Diana’s jewelry during her wedding. The Prince of Wales, known for proposing to Kate Middleton with his late mother’s engagement ring, reportedly expressed concerns about Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle from the beginning of their relationship. The insider claims that Prince William urged his younger brother to ‘cool the relationship’ to allow the actress time to adjust to royal life before making a full commitment , after they began dating in 2016. These revelations are unveiled in royal author Rob Jobson’s upcoming book, ‘Catherine, the Princess of Wales’.
However, not feeling as though his voice alone was enough to be listened to by the Duke of Sussex, the future king even turned to the then-monarch Queen Elizabeth II, to ensure Diana’s jewels would stay away from Marke.
Jobson delves into the rifts between the Sussex and Wales families before Meghan Markle officially joined the royal fold in 2018. “William, still concerned by the match, even sought assurances from the Queen that his brother’s bride-to-be would not wear any jewellery in the collection once worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, even though his wife Catherine had been allowed to wear some, which would be due to her rank,” he wrote in the book, as per a report in the Independent.
According to the book, the relationship between the brothers deteriorated even before Markle became a member of the royal family. Jobson said that William and Kate Middleton expressed concern about the speed at which Harry and Markle were progressing, which only made their already tumultuous relationship worse when Harry brought the former actress to meet them.

It’s the latest development in a series of revelations surrounding Markle’s time in the British Royal Family from 2016-2020 before she and her husband quit as senior members and left the United Kingdom for California.
Other allegations include Middleton making Markle cry hours before her wedding and questions regarded the skin colour of Archie, the couple’s first son, with Markle of mixed-race background. The encounters left the 42-year-old actress battling with depression and increased tensions in the long-running fraternal rivalry between Prince Harry and Prince William, which has not cooled off despite four years apart.
The author wrote, “Harry claimed that the goodwill from William and Catherine disappeared long before the build-up to his wedding. William had confided to his brother that he believed it would be better to give Meghan more time to adjust to the royal way of life and suggested he cool the relationship.”
“Harry felt affronted and judged it to be an insult. As a direct result, his relationship with his brother deteriorated fast. According to Harry’s book ‘Spare,’ William physically attacked him,” he added.
One of the book’s other shocking revelations included that Markle’s relationship with Prince William and Princess of Wales didn’t start out well because she “ignored the royal hierarchy.” “She had not so much stepped on royal toes as stamped on them,” Jobson wrote.
