Ranbir Kapoor recently revealed that he sought therapy before the passing of his father, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, was diagnosed with cancer. He expressed that therapy didn’t quite work for him.
During a chat with Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir explained, “I have tried therapy before my father got sick. I don’t think it worked for me for two reasons. Firstly, because I couldn’t express myself completely to the therapist.Secondly, the therapist, in some way, was teaching me how to manipulate life.”
Ranbir stressed that people should focus on learning to deal with their feelings genuinely. “In order to overcome all this, there is a method that you can learn by teaching yourself certain things. Whatever he was telling me, it made me realise that I don’t want to manipulate life. I don’t want to put some emotion aside to avoid it because it gives me peace,” he added.
When the topic turned to male vulnerability, Ranbir acknowledged the challenges men face. “You can’t comment so freely on this topic anymore because somebody might pick up something and you will be called anti-feminist or male chauvinist. I feel whether it is a man or a woman, if they aren’t well mentally, there is no shame in taking help. There is no shame in crying about it, and the people who love you will understand,” he said.

He urged everyone to address mental health issues with dignity and sensitivity. “Mental health is something that it is nice to tackle it quietly with a lot of grace. Don’t use it as an excuse to not do things and not be a certain way. It’s a problem, find a solution and keep working at it,” he stated.

On the work front, Ranbir will star in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayan along with other anticipated projects, including Animal Park directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Love And War by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
