New Delhi: Sri Lanka won the third and final ODI game on Wednesday after defeating India by a huge margine f 110 runs. Virat Kohli failed to deliver with the bat in all the three clashes, in the third ODI he received an aggressive send-off by Lankan batter Sadeera Samarawickrama.

The former India skipper was looking in great touch as was batting on 20. Dunith Wellalage trapped Virat Kohli LBW with a turning delivery, leading to an aggressive celebration from Samarawickrama right in front of the Indian batter.

The victory in the third ODI Sri Lanka got success in securing their first bilateral ODI series win over India in 27 years. It was disappointing start for Gautam Gambhir in ODI as India’s head coach.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma expressed his disappointment after the team lost the ODI series to Sri Lanka. The 37-year-old criticized the team’s lack of application with the bat throughout the three games.

Rohit Sharma said, “I don’t think it is a concern. But it is something we have to look at individually and as a game plan. It is a joke. When you are playing for India there is never going to be complacency. When I am captain there is no chance of complacency. But you have to give credit to good cricket.”

The Indian skipper commended Sri Lanka for their impressive performance. “Sri Lanka played better than us. We looked at the conditions and went with the combinations, there are also guys who need to be looked at and hence the changes. There are a lot of areas we need to look at rather than the positives,” he said.

“These things happen, series loss is not the end of the world, you will lose an odd series here and there but it is about how you come back after the loss,” he added.

India will now take a break before preparing for the Bangladesh series, which begins on September 19th. The recent performance against Sri Lanka has raised significant concerns about the batters’ proficiency against spin. The latest batting display starkly highlighted the declining standards of Indian batting against quality spin bowling.
