Vredestein Pinza HT and Ultrac Vorti I tested: Made-in-India performance tyres for India’s luxury SUVs

Vredestein Tyres recently expanded its portfolio in India, launching two new products targeting high-end, off-road capable and luxury SUV segments: the Pinza HT and the Ultrac Vorti I. As these tyres cater to different segments of the SUV market, we put them to the test on a variety of terrains, including off-road trails and at the CoASTT High Performance Centre track in Coimbatore, to see how they stack up.Here are our observations.

Pinza HT: A versatile performer

The Pinza HT, designed for premium SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Scorpio N, and Tata Safari, took us by a surprise with its exceptional grip, especially given that it’s classified as a highway tyre. We tested the Pinza HT, on both the Toyota Hilux and Fortuner, putting it through several off-road conditions. These tyres are offered in 16, 17, and 18-inch sizes.

One of the standout features of the Pinza HT was its ability to maintain grip even on challenging inclines, with traction control turned off. The tyres managed to claw their way up without significant wheel spin, thereby proving its off-road prowess during our runs. Despite being a tyre meant for tarmac, the Pinza HT didn’t, at any point, falter beyond it.

Well, its impressive off-road capabilities didn’t mean that we will spare the tests meant to test it in its true habitat – the roads. That said, the tread pattern provided confident braking and stability, as the SUVs were fairly easy to handle during hard braking and the tyres did plant themselves firmly every time to play with the laws of inertia! Besides that, what stood out was the minimal road noise, an issue with many tyres that offer both on-road and off-road performance. This balance between comfort and capability makes the Pinza HT a strong contender for those who want versatility without compromising on comfort.

Ultrac Vorti i: The luxury SUV specialist

Turning to the Ultrac Vorti I, we tested these 21 and 22-inch tyres on high-performance luxury SUVs, including the Mercedes-AMG G63 and BMW X5 M, on the 3.8 km-long CoASTT High Performance Centre track in Coimbatore. The first thing we noticed was the sporty design of the tyres, which complemented the sleek look of these high-end vehicles, especially the mighty G!

In terms of performance, the Ultrac Vorti I didn’t disappoint. Even during aggressive cornering and hard braking, the tyres maintained a firm grip, allowing for precise control at high speeds. The tyre’s design also reduces roll, enhancing the stability and comfort expected from luxury vehicles. This feature is particularly important for those who demand both performance and refinement from their tyres.
Another noteworthy aspect is that, unlike many high-performance tyres that are imported, the Ultrac Vorti I is made in India. The tyre doesn’t compromise on quality or performance and delivers global performance standards right at our homes.
