New Delhi: With Paris Olympics 2024 came to a conclusion on Sunday (August 11), Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi heaped praise on Indian athletes who competed in various sports. He expressed the nation’s pride in their efforts to do best for the country on the international stage.
The Prime Minister’s appreciation came as Paris Olympics 2024 came to close with a closing ceremony on Sunday.
A total of 117 athletes participated in various sports, showcased their talent and played really well.
PM Modi took to his X account and wrote “As the Paris #Olympics conclude, I appreciate the efforts of the entire Indian contingent through the games. All the athletes have given their best and every Indian is proud of them. Wishing our sporting heroes the best for their upcoming endeavours.”

India’s campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 ended with a haul of six medals consisting of one silver and five bronze, which is a testament of their hard work and determination in the prestigious competition.
Manu Bhaker secured India’s first bronze medal and became first Indian women ever to win a medal in Olympic shooting. Later she etched her name in the history books by becoming first Indian to clinch medals in a single Olympic edition, after her mixed team 10m air pistol bronze with Sarabjot Singh. It was India’s first medal in team shooting.
India’s men’s hockey team clinched the bronze medal with a thrilling victory over Spain in the playoff clash, while defending champion Neeraj Chopra secured a silver, finishing second in the javelin throw. Adding to the nation’s success, wrestler Aman Sehrawat earned a well-deserved bronze, rounding off a commendable performance by the Indian contingent.
