BSA Gold Star 650 launch on 15 August: What to expect from RE Interceptor 650 rival

A legendary name in motorcycling history is gearing up for a comeback in India. BSA, the British brand, is set to return to the Indian market with the much-anticipated Gold Star 650 on August 15, Independence Day. Classic Legends, the makers of Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles, will now complete the trident with the debut of BSA motorcycles. Here, let’s take a look at what to expect from this motorcycle, which will lock horns against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
BSA Gold Star 650: Design
The BSA Gold Star has retained much of its classic British styling, ensuring it stays true to its roots. The motorcycle features a metal tank with heavy chrome work and machined parts, a round headlamp, and a wide handlebar. Besides that, other highlights include a single-piece seat, twin-pod instrument cluster, curved fenders, and more.

BSA Gold Star 650: Features
While the Gold Star’s design is rooted in tradition, its feature set is refreshingly simple. Like mentioned above, it includes a twin-pod semi-digital instrument cluster and a halogen headlamp. Besides that, it does get modern touches as well, including features like a USB charging port, slipper-clutch and dual-channel ABS.
In terms of hardware, the motorcycle features telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, and 18-inch front and 17-inch rear tyres. Braking duties are carried out by disc brakes at both ends, combined with dual-channel ABS.
BSA Gold Star 650: Engine
Beneath its classic exterior, the Gold Star 650 is powered by a 652 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This makes it one of the biggest single-cylinder motorcycles in India. This long-stroke motor generates 45 hp and 55 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed gearbox.
