Although ‘Khel Khel Mein’, directed by Mudassar Aziz, garnered favorable reviews, its box office performance has been lackluster. Khel Khel Mein, an ensemble cast film based on the Italian film ‘Perfect Strangers’, stars Aditya Seal, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal, and Akshay Kumar in important roles. Even if this comedy-drama is only one more thing the actor has to offer his fans, ‘Sarfira’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, two of his recent failures, have drawn criticism.
During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, ‘Khel Khel Mein’ director Mudassar Aziz recently criticized the public for condemning Akshay Kumar, who gave 33 years of his life to entertain them, and labeled these verdicts unfounded. In addition, he complimented Akshay for accepting the criticism with a smile.
Mudassar also talked about if Akshay ever appeared anxious about Khel Khel Mein’s success after taking criticism for his recent failures. He shared, “I cannot answer on his behalf, but as per my observation this chatter is quite baseless. All those who comment on these things, I don’t think they hold the position to do so. A man has been in this industry for 33 years and has been responsible for many people’s happy memories. He had no family member in the industry, he came to Mumbai from Delhi, worked as a waiter, assisted a photographer, or did something else. It is ridiculous for him to be asked to prove his stardom to us even after 33 years.”
Mudassar was all praises for Akshay and called him ‘very intelligent’. He shared, “He reflects on everything, and the level of commitment he has to anything prompts him to make very few wrong decisions. He just smiles upon all the judgments he gets, that’s the attitude I see in him. I want to be him when I am 57. I was discussing some of my troubled times with him and my eyes welled up. I have not even seen 10 per cent success of what Akshay Kumar has seen. He is a cult in himself, so I find it weird that anybody should turn around and tell him to justify his stardom.”
Mudassar concluded by saying that if a few page views allow people to critique Akshay, then 33 years of experience allows him to do the kind of work he wants to do.
