Earlier there was speculation for some time about Varun joining the film, which is produced by JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. This movie will be the first war-drama of Varun’s career.
Earlier reports indicated that Ayushmann Khurrana had agreed to play a soldier in the film but later backed out due to creative differences. A report in Mid-Day quoted a source saying Ayushmann was “unsure” about his role in the ensemble film which would feature Sunny Deol as the lead. The same report mentioned that the makers were also interested in casting Diljit Dosanjh but there was no confirmation of his involvement yet.
‘Border 2’, will be directed by Anurag Singh, who is known for his work on films like ‘Kesari’, ‘Punjab 1984’, ‘Jatt & Juliet’, and ‘Dil Bole Hadippa!’. The film was announced on June 13, 2024, commemorating the 27th anniversary of the original ‘Border’. The makers have declared it as “India’s biggest war film”.
Varun Dhawan recently made a cameo appearance in ‘Stree 2’. He has several upcoming projects, which includes ‘Bhediya 2’, ‘Baby John’, and an untitled film directed by his father.
