A jockey is in intensive care after being brought down by a fall in a Ballarat jumps race on Sunday where another horse suffered fatal injuries.
Lee Horner, 34, was initially taken to a local hospital with a head injury before being rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
He was admitted to ICU with a bruise on the brain, according to the Victorian Jockeys Association.

Horner and Will Gordon were injured after Sky Hero and Bell Ex One were tangled up by Mighty Oasis, which fell when it did not clear the 10th obstacle.
Mighty Oasis suffered a “serious injury” and was euthanised, according to stewards.
The horse’s jockey Chris McCarthy escaped injury but Horner and Gordon were both taken to hospital.
Gordon suffered a suspected shoulder injury.
Sky Hero and Bell Ex One were both found to be lame in the off foreleg, stewards said.
The ill-fated final race capped off a horror day in Ballarat after two horses had already died.
Maserartie Bay and Buffalo Bill both faltered less than halfway through their respective races.
They were found to have sustained serious injuries before being euthanised.
Both incidents have been referred to Racing Victoria vets and the Jumps Review Panel.
