A young mother, Victoria Danson, initially believed her severe abdominal pain was due to stress from her busy lifestyle. However, she was given a devastating prognosis – she had just 24 hours to live. Initially diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, she eventually learned she had Crohn’s Disease. In 2014, she was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered an abdominal abscess causing life-threatening sepsis. To save her life, emergency surgery was performed, during which 45cm of her bowel was removed and an ileostomy bag was fitted. Despite her ongoing battle with Crohn’s Disease, Danson has made significant lifestyle changes and has embraced body confidence. She now shares her story to inspire and educate others about living with an invisible illness. Danson emphasizes the importance of seeking medical advice and maintaining a positive mindset. She has also created a support group for others with Crohn’s and Colitis.
