Mardell took on the role of interim CEO in November 2022 following Thierry Bollore’s resignation for personal reasons. He previously served as the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the JLR board. As the interim CEO, Mardell was responsible for corporate finance, treasury, financial reporting, accounting, tax, internal control, and business support.
He joined Jaguar Land Rover in 1990 and held various financial positions until 2008 when he became Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Operations Controller, and later Chief Transformation Officer.
The company also appointed Richard Molyneux as the CFO.
Richard served as the acting CFO from December 2022 and previously held the position of Finance Director, Operations.
Tata Motors announced on Wednesday its plans to construct a $5.2 billion electric car battery factory in the U.K. The facility is expected to become one of Europe’s largest battery cell manufacturing sites upon commencing production in 2026. This major investment in the U.K. automotive industry is set to create 4,000 direct jobs and many more in supply chains, according to the British government.
The new factory will supply batteries to JLR and other brands.
According to Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps, the plant is projected to produce around 40 gigawatt hours of battery cells annually, sufficient to provide half of the U.K.’s electric vehicle batteries.
