All Australian squad: Collingwood and Brisbane dominate AFL’s 40-man squad

Top-two sides Collingwood and Brisbane have dominated the AFL’s 44-man All-Australian squad.

The Magpies, which finished the season on top have five selections, headlined by Nick and Josh Daicos, as well as captain Darcy Moore, Jordan De Goey and Isaac Quaynor.

The Lions have four in the squad with Harris Andrews, Charlie Cameron, Joe Daniher and Lachie Neale all in the mix.

All 18 clubs are represented in the squad with Oscar Allen (West Coast) and Nick Larkey (North Melbourne) both earning selection after stellar seasons for the cellar dwellers.

Richmond ball magnet Tim Taranto, Melbourne captain Max Gawn, Geelong assist king Gryan Miers and Greater Western Sydney star Sam Taylor were among the notable absentees.

Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli, Richmond veteran Dustin Martin and Geelong defender Tom Stewart are each in line for a potential fifth All-Australian selection.

The final team will be announced on Wednesday night.

The 2023 All-Australian selection panel comprised AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan (chair), Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Andrew Dillon, Glen Jakovich, Laura Kane, Cameron Ling and Matthew Pavlich.
