Amazon customers in Brisbane, Geelong, Gosford, Newcastle and Wollongong to be eligible for Prime FREE One-Day Delivery

Amazon has made a major call for its Australian customers, announcing its Prime FREE One-Day Delivery service is set to expand into Brisbane, Geelong, Gosford, Newcastle and Wollongong.

Customers in these cities can now get free one-day delivery on more than one million products, including pantry staples, household and personal care items, electronics, books, beauty items and more.

Eligible items can be easily identified by customers shopping on the Amazon app or Amazon.com.au via the ‘Prime FREE One-Day’ or ‘Prime One-Day’ icon.

No minimum spend is required, and orders placed by midnight will arrive the next day.

“When customers shop online, they want to know they are getting a great price and that their order will be delivered to them fast, with no additional costs,” general manager of Amazon Australia Matthew Benham said.

“We are committed to growing the value of Prime in Australia, so we are excited to announce the expansion of Prime FREE One-Day Delivery on a huge selection of products to even more cities.

“Prime members in most areas of Sydney and Melbourne have already been enjoying this service, and we are thrilled to be able to offer Prime members in these additional locations access to the service.”

Amazon Australia hopes to further expand the service in the future.

Customers outside eligible postcodes can still have items delivered for free in as fast as two days on eligible orders.

Amazon Australia now has six fulfilment centres, including a facility in Lytton — in Brisbane’s east — which is the same size as two Rugby League fields and can house more than 1.5 million items from Amazon.

“We are able to offer customers fast delivery speed as a result of our continuing investment and expansion into our operations in Australia,” Benham said.

“By building fulfilment centres and delivery stations close to where our customers live and work, packages travel shorter distances, which enables us to speed up delivery.”
