Ameesha Patel, who is currently on cloud nine with the success of Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol, recently revealed that many people, be it the industry people, her friends or family, had warned her against signing the Anil Sharma directorial telling her that nobody will watch it.
She told Bollywood Hungama that they were quite nervous to go ahead with Gadar2 because people had made her believe that it is difficult to bring back the audiences to theatres amid the emergence of OTT platforms.She added they had written off Gadar 2 just like they did during the release of Gadar: EkPrem Katha.
“And many questioned, ‘Will people go?’ and some said, ‘That era of cinema is gone. People are happy to be at home and watch OTT for free at their own time and space and stop and pause and return to the film in two days or, as time permits, depending on their convenience’,” Ameesha said.Some people also said that maybe a few people will watch Gadar 2 for the love of Tara Singh and Sakeena and they might be interested to know what happened in their life. “This was said by people within the industry and outside it. Even friends and family told me this. I know that a lot of people had doubts and stuff,” she revealed.
Gadar 2 is now inching closer to Rs 400 crore mark at the box office. The movie has set a new record by beating the collections of Aamir Khan’s Dangal on the second Monday since being released.
