We’re used to seeing big rectangular luggage shapes being spat out at baggage claim, thunking towards us as we start – or end – a trip.
But innovators over at American Tourister have decided to change up their usual designs and develop products that are cylinder in shape – dubbing the clever collection “Rollio”.
There are four products to choose from – a duffle bag ($179), carry bag ($169), crossbody bag ($115) and small ($315) or large suitcase ($459) – all of them shaped in the same cylindrical, uber-stylish way.

American Tourister’s General Manager of Business and Strategy, Marcio Oliveira da Silveira, said Rollio – which launched in Australia earlier this week – was inspired by Gen Z travellers and their passion for authenticity.
“Rollio has won the prestigious European Red Dot Design Award 2023 for its unique design, which also combines outstanding functionality. It’s been tested with airlines to ensure that it’s also compliant,” he told 7Life.
He explained that the range is made for travellers who want to express their own unique sense of style, and make a statement.
Within the functional bags there are highly durable packing dividers with purpose-built cells for clean and used clothing.
Travellers can use the duffle and small case for weekend getaways, the checked and cabin combination for larger overseas trips and the carry bag for beauty products you might need on any trip in between.
“We’ve just launched and there’s hype building up already with our community of Gen Z influencers and some celebrities who absolutely love the fresh and authentic design,” Marcio said.
