Asia Cup: Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim to miss India match

NEW DELHI: Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has made the decision to skip the upcoming Asia Cup Super Four match against India on Friday.
This decision has been made so that he can spend quality time with his wife and their newly born daughter. The Bangladesh Cricket Board made this announcement on Wednesday.
Bangladesh have already been eliminated from contention for the September 17 final, as India secured a 41-run victory against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Tuesday. This tournament serves as a lead-up to the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.
Rahim had temporarily returned to Bangladesh to be with his family for the birth of his second child, which took place on Monday.

While there were initial plans for him to rejoin the team for the match against India in Colombo, he has now decided to stay in Dhaka with his family, as confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
“Mushfiqur has informed us that his wife is still recovering, and he needs to be by her side and with their children,” BCB operations chief Mohammed Jalal Yunus.
“We fully understand his situation, and have decided to permit him to skip the game.”
Skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who also returned home with Mushfiqur after their defeat against Sri Lanka on September 9, rejoined the team in Colombo on Wednesday.
They will wrap up the campaign with the India game, before preparing for a three-match series against New Zealand at home next week.
