Aussie ex-paramedic on the one sign you should never ignore: ‘Seek a doctor immediately’

An Aussie ex-paramedic and mum has shared the one sign a parent should never ignore when it comes to their kids.

Nikki Jurcutz, who is a former paramedic and the CEO of the parenting organisation, Tiny Hearts Education, said if you see bruising behind the ears of your child after a head injury, it’s called a “battle sign”.

This is a definite sign you should “seek a doctor immediately” as the ex-paramedic explained that this type of bruising indicates that there’s a chance the child might have a serious skull fracture.

Nikki’s video received four million views and people in the comments thanked her for her advice.

“New fear, thanks,” said one.

“I never knew this,” said a second.

“Oh, my goodness, this breaks my heart. Thanks for sharing,” said a third.

“This is so scary,” added another.

Nikki also recently shared another video on the “simple glass test every parent needs to know”.

The glass test is a way of examining your child’s rashes and helps to reveal how serious they potentially are.

Nikki explained that if your child was sick with a fever and a rash, you should press a clear glass firmly against the rash.

“If the rash doesn’t blanch (turn paler), under the pressure of the glass, it could be a sign that it is something more serious that needs immediate attention,” she warned.

“Knowing this simple trick could be lifesaving.”

The video was posted to her Instagram page, Tiny Hearts Education, which frequently shares health and parenting advice, along with tips and tricks for newborns.

The video has received more than five million views and people in the comments have praised the former paramedic and mum’s hack.

“I love this simple yet effective tool,” said one.

“This is an excellent page to follow, a lot of my young mum friends and family do,” added a second.

“Thanks to you guys we did this and rushed to hospital. This is the best Instagram page I’ve followed for new mums, saved us a few times,” added a third.
