Ayo Edebiri has already distinguished herself as a standout on FX’s The Bear and a style star on the red carpet, but at the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, she made it clear that she hasn’t forgotten her loyalty to the people who really keep Hollywood running: assistants.
Edebiri was honored with the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy TV series, and as she took the stage to give her acceptance speech, she made sure to thank “all of my agents’ and managers’ assistants,” adding: “…Y’all are real ones. Thank you for answering my crazy, crazy emails.” This show of solidarity isn’t entirely surprising from Edebiri, who could be frequently found on the picket lines during last year’s SAG and WGA strikes, but after a year that had a serious financial impact on below-the-line Hollywood crew members, Edebiri taking the time to acknowledge the largely unseen and under-appreciated labor that powers her industry is pretty objectively cool.

The crowd at the Beverly Hilton went fairly wild after Edebiri’s speech, but there was one person who seemed particularly appreciative of the rising comedy star’s words: Taylor Swift could be seen applauding and seemingly saying “Yup” after Edebiri’s “crazy, crazy emails” line. Edebiri started her career as a production assistant on Broad City shortly after she graduated from NYU, which might explain her statement; then again, any Hollywood celebrity who’s truly being honest with themselves knows that their world absolutely wouldn’t function without assistants. (And on that note, support the nascent production assistants’ union!)
