Google has announced major changes to Google TV which mean users will no longer be able to purchase TV episodes and seasons, beginning this month.
“We are making some changes to how you purchase TV shows from Google TV,” the tech giant announced on a blog post.
“These changes do not affect access to your previously purchased TV shows or the ability to continue to purchase or rent movies.”

Google said the changes meant users would no longer be able to purchase TV episodes and seasons from Google TV on Google TV devices, Android TV devices, and the Google TV mobile app.
However, users are advised they can continue to purchase TV shows from YouTube, depending on country availability.
“You’ll still be able to access all of your previously purchased movies and TV shows,” it said.
“However, moving forward, any TV shows purchased on YouTube after today will only be accessible through the YouTube app or on YouTube.”
The tech giant said that the changes would be rolling out over the next few weeks, depending on the users’ location.
Frustrated customers jumped on to social media to vent their anger over the changes.
“Oh, Google, I don’t know what you’re doing sometimes, and I’m not sure you do either,” one user wrote.
“These decisions (that) are made sometimes make my head hurt.”
The comment appears to refer to Google’s habit of getting rid of popular products, a list of which can be found here.
