Bajaj files ‘Vector’ trademark in India: Upcoming Chetak electric-scooter model?

Bajaj Auto has filed a trademark for the name ‘Vector’ in India, which could possibly be an upcoming electric scooter from its Chetak brand of electric vehicles. Back in 2020, the two-wheeler maker announced its subsidiary, the Chetak Technologies brand, which solely works on electric two-wheelers.
Although, filing of the trademark does not guarantee a production-spec model but if we connect the dots, it seems like the brand is preparing to launch a sportier variant of its Chetak EV.Well, a few years ago, Swedish manufacturer Hasqvarna unveiled the ‘Vektorr’ EV concept, which was speculated to be based on the Chetak EV. In fact, the scooter was even spied testing on Indian roads along with other Chetak e-scooters. For the unversed, Bajaj owns a 48 percent stake in KTM AG, the parent company of motorcycle brands KTM and Husqvarna.

That said, there’s a possibility that the ‘Vector’ might come as a rebadged version of the Husqvarna Vektorr, probably in a sportier guise of the Chetak EV. Although, these are all speculations.

At present, the EV maker has two products in its portfolio namely, the Chetak Premium and the newly-launched Chetak Urbane. Although, both the models are similar, the Urbane offers a ‘TechPac’ which gives it some additional features such as hill hold, reverse mode, smartphone connectivity, tamper alerts, and more. Besides that, it gives an additional 10kmph boost in the top speed as compared to the 63 kmph offered with the base-spec variant. The Chetak Premium is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh, ex-showroom, while the Urbane comes with a price tag of Rs 1.15 lakh, ex-showroom.
