It’s funny to think that, for most of my life, the NASA worm logo was never used in an official capacity. Sure, the agency uses it now for some projects, but even in the meatball-only days of my youth the worm text seemed ubiquitous — everywhere, instantly recognizable, simple shorthand for space and exploration.
It’s on hats, shirts, pens, Adam Savage merchandise. The worm may have been discontinued four years before I was born, but it still screams NASA — seeing its return is like seeing an old friend for the first time in years. Though, if you’re the1969DodgeChargerFan, it might just look like a brand activation.
If you haven’t seen Dune Part 2 yet, I implore you to do so as soon as humanly possible. Find the biggest theater you can, with the best sound system, and set aside two hours and 46 minutes of your life. I know it’s long, but trust me on this one. When have I ever steered you wrong? I’m already looking to see it again, even just to feel the sensation of the soundtrack once more.
I’d also recommend you find not only the biggest, but the tallest screen available to you. Dune Part 2 is cropped down on your standard movie screens, and looks best in IMAX or taller — if you can find one that’s nearly square, you’ll get a lot more going on in the image that the1969DodgeChargerFan posted. Let it never be said that Denis Villeneuve isn’t a master of framing.
Congratulations, the1969DodgeChargerFan, on your Comment Of The Day win. Here’s a track from the Dune Part 2 soundtrack. Look, sometimes you have to go with the obvious choice, because the obvious choice can still be the best one.
