Toronto Blue Jays righty Alek Manoah’s sim game went well according to manager John Schneider, as the right-handed pitcher looks to make his return from an injury suffered in the spring.
Manoah was scheduled to throw a three-inning simulated game on Tuesday to catcher Danny Jansen, who is also making a return from injury.
According to Schneider, Manoah struck out six in the simulated outing while showing good velocity and command.
He has been building up after dealing with shoulder soreness and inflammation during spring training and started the year on the 15-day injured list.
Next up for him will be an appearance with low-A Dunedin where he is slated to pitch four innings in Sunday’s game against the Lakeland Flying Tigers.
The 26-year-old made only one start in spring training, lasting one and two-thirds innings, hitting three batters and giving up four earned runs in the short-lived contest.
He struggled last season, spending time between the major league club and the minors as he looked to recapture his all-star form. He finished with a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts for the Blue Jays in 2023.
