Bodybuilder Alana Paiva dead at 21 after ‘freak’ crash: ’So terrible’

A popular bodybuilder has died in tragic circumstances at the age of 21.

According to multiple reports, Alana Paiva died in a ‘freak’ crash while riding on a motorbike in the Campo Grande neighbourhood in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro with her boyfriend.

It has been alleged that a minibus made an illegal turn and hit the couple before driving off.

The minibus allegedly hit the motorbike head-on.

Paiva’s boyfriend, Uilblim Do Espírito Santo, also died.

He was a 43-year-old retired military officer and leaves behind him an eight-year-old daughter.

It has been reported that Uilblim was able to talk to ambulance staff before he died.

Paiva was in an induced coma for 10 days before she died.

The alleged hit and run happened on October 12.

Paiva has also been described as a fitness influencer from Brazil with over 5000 followers on Instagram and a regular TikTok user.

She has over 2000 followers on TikTok and thousands of likes.

Paiva loved bodybuilding.

‘‘(It’s a) wonderful sport, which is not just about winning, but about maintaining discipline every day to surpass yourself each time you step on the stage,” she once said on social media.

Fans were quick to send heartfelt condolences after it was revealed Paiva had died.

“This is so sad, losing young talent at 21, can be so terrible and painful. My prayer is with her family and friends at this time,” one fan wrote.

“So heartbreaking. Too young,” another said.

And another: “Sending heartfelt condolences to Alana Paiva’s family and friends.”

While another said: “She will be missed.”

Police are reportedly investigating the accident.
