Brisbane real estate agent Aimee Marsh announces next move after being fired for deriding renters

A prominent Brisbane real estate figure fired for disparaging comments aimed at rental tenants has “quit retirement” after scoring a role with a new agency.

Aimee Marsh came under fire in August when she labelled renters “a disgrace and irrelevant” and also suggested that people who don’t own their homes are unwilling to make “sacrifices”.

Marsh, 30, argued the now-deleted comments were an attempt to defend herself following attacks on her integrity as an agent and that she had been taken out of context, but she was still let go by employer Ray White Aspley.

Now, a month later, Marsh has revealed her next move after joining Blue Moon Property, also in Queensland.

“When you tell all your clients you have quit retirement and (are) back in action, and they text back things that spoke volumes to me. They are why I do what I do,” she said in a post on Instagram.

“Because although some haven’t even used my services yet I know they one day will and have shown me nothing but love and loyalty.

“I have still changed their lives in other ways and will continue to.

“It’s not always about the income, it’s about helping people and motivating people. Creating lifetime bonds.”

Marsh then shared quotes reportedly from residents in Griffin, describing her as “resilient, strong, admired, an inspiration to young women, tenacious … persistent, motivated and driven”.

On Blue Moon’s website, the company says “we don’t claim to be the best, the biggest or to have all of the bells and whistles of the big boys but we do claim that we will always put your best interests first”.

“All of our staff have experienced tough times in their lives and they have all come out on the other side as better people,” the company says.

Marsh last month told 7NEWS her online remarks were made over a year ago and were sharply taken out of context.

She said she was initially attempting to congratulate a seller, but reaction to her post spiralled out of control.

The backlash when her comments were made public was intense, with vile threats and abuse flooding in.

“I’m not sorry for what I said, I’m sorry that it offended people. It was literally targeted at people that were targeting me,” Marsh told 7NEWS.

Marsh’s previous employer Ray White offered her counselling through its employee assistance program.

“Our franchisee made the decision to terminate her employment … and the corporate team fully supports this decision,” Ray White Queensland chief executive Jason Andrew said.

“We apologise to anyone who may have been offended as well as any members within our community if these views have offended.”
