If successful, this sprint time would outpace the current record holder, the $2.2 million Rimac Nevera, which set the record in 1.74 seconds.

Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti, offered a surprising response to the claim. Replying to a comment on his Facebook post where a user mentioned about Musk’s claims, Rimac acknowledged the technical feasibility of potential feat, but with a catch.
“It is possible,” Rimac wrote, “but with thrusters.” He revealed that his company has already done the simulation for the same. However, he pointed out that the practical implementation faces significant challenges such as releasing air within 2-3 seconds results in carrying excess weight—tanks, compressors, valves, nozzles, and similar components.
“Same with fans – they just give you more grip but you need something like 30.000 Nm on the wheels to accelerate below 1 sec 0-100 km/h which means you need massive motors, inverters, gearboxes, driveshafts etc,” he added.
Moreover, he said that the vehicle must remain exceptionally lightweight to effectively utilize fans for excess downforce, as heavier cars overload tyres quickly, particularly electric ones. “So thrusters are really the only way to go. But bring a lot of downsides as well.” Rimac noted.
Speaking of the price difference between these potential rivals, the Tesla model will significantly undercut the Rimac Nevera’s $2.2 million (Rs 18.23 crore approx) sticker price with its expected price falling in the range of $200,000 to $250,000 (up to Rs 2 crore approx).
