Caitlin Clark continues to prove her worth — and just broke two records in one game.
The 22-year-old Indiana Fever guard aided the team’s fourth-quarter comeback Saturday against the New York Liberty by becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to net a “triple-double” — and with just 22 games played, she’s now the fastest player to net 350 points and 150 assists.
The previous record-holder, Sue Bird, accomplished the latter feat in 25 games in 2002.
Getting a “triple-double” means scoring double-digits in three of five categories — assists, blocks, points, rebounds and steals — in a single game. Clark on Saturday netted 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds.
“Caitlin Clark records the first triple-double by a rookie in WNBA History and the first triple-double in Indiana Fever history!” the WNBA wrote Saturday on X, formerly Twitter.
Clark almost landed her triple-double during last week’s game against Phoenix, but Saturday’s feat was serendipitous. Clarke broke Bird’s record in her 22nd game and wears a No. 22 jersey.
She also set an entirely new record as the first Fever player to get a triple-double in the team’s history.
“I was a kid that grew up watching the Olympics,” she added. “It will be fun to watch them.”
