A 14-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of faking a home invasion, killing both of his parents and wounding his younger sister, Fresno County sheriff’s deputies say.
Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, 911 dispatchers received a call from a 14-year-old boy claiming an intruder had broken into his Miramonte home. The boy allegedly said his parents and sister were harmed in the attack, and the intruder left in a pickup truck. When deputies arrived at the scene on the 47000 block of Dunlap Road in rural Fresno County, both parents were already dead. An 11-year-old girl was rushed to a hospital for surgery, and a third child inside the home was unharmed.
“Homicide detectives responded to the scene and learned there were inconsistencies with what supposedly took place,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “The evidence ultimately showed the 14 year old boy had fabricated the story of a break-in and he was responsible for using multiple weapons to attack his family members.”

The boy, who is not being identified due to his age, was taken to a Fresno County juvenile hall and faces two charges of murder and one charge of attempted murder. The deceased have been identified as Lue and Se Vang, both 37. Their daughter is expected to survive.
“Two children have lost their mother and father due to the actions by their other sibling,” Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said.
There were no prior calls to police from that home, Zanoni said. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are still trying to determine a motive.
