TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A woman was killed and a man suffered life-threatening injuries when they were ejected from a speeding vehicle on Aviation Parkway in the Tucson area early Tuesday, July 23.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the accident happened near Aviation and Alvernon Way around 1:30 a.m.
The PCSD said a speeding black Dodge Charger lost control in a curve, and hit a concrete barrier, several signs, and a light pole before crashing into a building in the 3700 block of East Technical Drive.
The driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The passenger, 26-year-old Nicole Gutierrez, died at the scene. The driver, who has not been named, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A business in the area captured the crash on surveillance video. You can watch it below.

Gutierrez’s sister Alicia Valencia talked with 13 News about her sister’s life.
“We have a really big family and there is going to be a very big hole to fill,” Valencia said.
Gutierrez leaves behind seven brothers and sisters.
“She was still very much finding herself in the world, but she had a presence that was known,” Valencia said.
Kevin Jenkins works near the crash site. He said that while people speed in that area frequently, Tuesday’s crash was unlike anything he had seen before.
“The guy was coming real fast,” Jenkins said. “I thought they were drag racing, He hit this wall right here and flipped at least six to eight times and busted into flames.”
Valencia started a GoFundMe account to help the family with burial expenses. You can donate by going HERE.
“My sister would want me to share with the community just to live,” Valencia said. “To live with an open heart to be kind to others.”
The PCSD confirmed there was another crash at the location a few hours later. However, it was a single-vehicle crash with no injuries.
