Australian Olympic legend Cathy Freeman has separated from husband James Murch after 15 years of marriage.
Freeman, 51, and Murch, 49, confirmed in a statement they have decided to part ways and said their focus was on their 13-year-old daughter Ruby.
“After 15 years of marriage we have unfortunately separated. We continue co-parenting and this is our greatest priority,” the statement said.

“We continue sharing a professional and working partnership through Estrella Sports Management.
“Given this is a personal matter we would greatly appreciate you respecting our privacy and we won’t be making any further comment.”
Freeman married former stockbroker Murch at Spray Farm on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula in 2009. The pair welcomed daughter Ruby two years later in 2011.
Freeman delivered two iconic moments at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, first lighting the cauldron during the opening ceremony and then winning the women’s 400m sprint.
Her career is glittered with highlights, taking gold at Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
She announced her retirement in 2003.
