ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – CBS7 FIRST ALERT Forecast for Monday, June 10th, 2024: After another hot day across the region Sunday, conditions look to change a bit for the start of the workweek.
Temperatures today will be cooler than normal for this time of year. Highs will range from the 80s to the triple digits. Midland/Odessa are looking to reach a high of 87°F. Skies will start off a touch cloudy before gradually clearing leaving mostly sunny skies through the later part of the day. Winds through the day will be between 5 – 15 mph. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon, with a few storms potentially on the strong to severe side. If any storms become severe, the main threats will be large hail and strong winds.
Slight rain chances remain in the forecast for Tuesday with the highest rain chances in the northern and eastern Permian Basin. Hail and strong wind gusts will be the primary threats during the late afternoon and early evening. Temperatures don’t stay cool for long as highs return to the 90s Tuesday and onward. On the bright side, Midland/Odessa are currently looking to stay out of the triple digits for at least a few days. With the upper level ridging, dry conditions also return and look to continue through the majority of the extended forecast.
