“Police were told the man was standing by a utility with two other males, when a black coloured SUV drove past them and allegedly fired multiple shots at them,” police said.

CCTV footage shows a vehicle drive towards the crime scene, before speeding away in the opposite direction minutes later.

A black ute, believed to have been the victim’s friends taking him to Westmead hospital, was seen driving from the scene shortly after.

At least three shots were fired during the attack.

“That male is known to us… and we would be very clear that this was a targeted attack,” Superintendent Michael McLean told reporters on Saturday.

“The reasons for them being in the street are not clear to us.”

The 18-year-old remains in a stable condition.

The two other men were uninjured.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.

The ute was seized by police for forensic examination.

The shooting is the latest in a string of shootings in Sydney’s South West linked to organised crime.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam video to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
