Aussie chef Curtis Stone thought he’d drop in via video link to chat to The Morning Show ahead of the second season of his show Field Trip with Curtis Stone – but was unable to cast too much light on the situation.

Curtis was Zooming in from Costa Rica before the season premieres on Foxtel’s Lifestyle Food channel. But due to the time difference, the sun was setting quickly leaving the celeb chef in almost complete darkness.

With the light fading fast, Larry Emdur jokingly chastised Curtis for being “the only person in entertainment who doesn’t carry his own ring light”.

While explaining how Field Trip with Curtis Stone included Australian chefs, farmers, winemakers and distillers, Curtis was rapidly disappearing into the dark, leaving Sally Bowrey to joke that soon the only thing still visible would be his teeth.

As Curtis explained how the new series saw him visiting various locations across New South Wales, Larry couldn’t resist observing: “You get to travel to all sorts of destinations, as part of your job, many of them with light.”

When it was time to finish up their chat, with Curtis sitting in almost complete darkness, Larry added: “This is the bit where we say ‘nice to see you’ but we can’t use that cliche obviously, this is the other bit in the film business where we say ‘fade to black’.”

Season 2 of Field Trip With Curtis Stone will air on Foxtel’s Lifestyle Food on Sundays at 8pm from July 4, with the dedicated NSW episode airing on July 18.
