Celebrity stylist turned wallpaper designer creates bold colourful prints to ‘fill homes with happiness’

A celebrity fashion stylist has moved to Australia to inject vibrant colour into wallpapers across the nation.

In 2013, Tamzyn Adding decided that she was fed up with the “epidemic” of beige homes and wanted to put her design degree to good use by creating colourful prints and upholstery to turn homes into artworks.

Calling her business Miss Lolo, Tamzyn applied her instinctive knowledge of colour to create aesthetically adventurous pieces that become the focal point of any room.

She started out by elevating vintage furniture with beautiful fabrics, giving them a bold and vibrant new lease of life before progressing to designing and producing her own unique line of fabrics and wall coverings.Within a couple of years, Tamzyn had accrued national business awards and a vast social media following, allowing her to inject the joy of colour into a plethora of homes and businesses around the country and now also the US, Canada and Australia.

Wanting a larger audience and a lifestyle change, Tamzyn, who is from Auckland, relocated not only her business but also her husband and three daughters to Queensland in September with a mission to introduce colour and fun into the homes of design-savvy Australians.

Miss Lolo might be new to the Australian shores but she’s already making a major impact; with her first commercial job underway in a new hotel in Fortitude Valley and a brand collaboration with loved Sydney-based brand Incy Interiors to launch later this year.

“When I started Miss Lolo nine years ago my sole aim was to break down this almost intimidating concept colour had in interiors,” Tamzyn wrote on Instagram in June.“We were sold with the concept of neutral houses being the best for resale, we were told that Scandi design was the only way to decorate and that Quarter Tea was the only colour to paint your walls.

Tamzyn explained that homes should be “filled to the brim with happiness” and that can sometimes mean making daring design choices.

The wallpapers and upholstery Tamzyn sells range in price from $150 to $2,220 for a floral headboard, so there is a piece for everyone’s budget available.
