With this win, Charles Leclerc closed down Max Verstappen’s gap on F1 Driver Standings. Verstappen has 169 points as compared to Leclerc’s 138.
Monaco: Charles Leclerc finally ended his string of bad luck as he clinched his maiden home race win at Monaco F1 Grand Prix after a series of failures over the past few seasons. However, the race saw drama on the first lap as Sergio Perez of Red Bull collided with Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg, both from Haas. The crash led to red flags being brought out on the first lap itself and the race had to be stopped as the debris was cleared out of the track.
Monegasque Driver Wins Big At Home
The Ferrari driver had the curse of not winning his home race even once but the storyline changed on Sunday as he romped home ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz. It was an amazing day for Ferrari as they took away a load of points from this race thus helping them in the constructor’s title against Red Bull. It was Ferrari 11th race win at the Monaco GP since its inception in 1929. Vittorio Marzotto had won the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time as a Ferrari driver. It was also Leclerc’s sixth F1 race win and 35th overall podium finish. For the unknown, it was Leclerc’s maiden win of the season and fifth podium finish this year.
Red Bull Lose Points After Disappointing Weekend
Red Bull had a disappointing weekend after championship leader and defending champion Max Verstappen struggled with pace and could only manage a P6. As far as Perez is concerned, Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate was out of the race on the first lap after the horrific crash.
