A 14-year-old Kelpie named Chase is proving to his Gold Coast community that you can teach old dogs new tricks.
The ex-cattle dog has been spotted “skiing” on the back of a motorboat with his owner Ben Siely, who revealed his four-legged-friend had only picked up the new trick four months ago.

“(Chase) used to love going on the paddleboard and being towed along the catamaran, and now he’s moved up to the motorboat,” the Gold Coast local told 7NEWS.
“He’s getting quite popular.”
The new trick was not hard for Chase to learn, but locals looking on were stunned at his unusual abilities as they jetted down the river together.
“He picked it up straight away, and he’s been a natural ever since,” Siley said.
While Siley says Chase has no complaints and enjoys the short 1km ride to the pub from their home on the catamaran, he admits that Chase is in need of a new board with better grip, as well as a better towing system.
“He enjoys it, so he’s quite happy to jump on.”
Siley said he and Chase have been “best mates” since he was a puppy, and are now enjoying life out on the water in his golden years.
“(Chase) used to be a cattle dog, but now he’s semi-retired and taking up surfing,” he said.
“Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks!”
