Citroen Basalt coupe SUV global debut tomorrow: Everything we know so far

Citroen India is all set to reveal Citroen’s upcoming SUV, Basalt tomorrow i.e., March 27, 2024. This model was so far known as the C3X and now it has been christened as Basalt. Only the exterior design will be revealed tomorrow and the interior of the coupe SUV will be revealed at a later date. The Basalt is expected to be a direct rival to the upcoming Tata Curvv in the Indian market.
The Basalt has been spied testing on roads multiple times, in terms of design the coupe SUV will feature a sloping roofline and a wraparound tail lamp cluster. It is likely to get a lift-back style tailgate. The car also gets lift-style door handles and a heavily raked C-pillar with multi-spoke alloy wheels which are likely to measure 17 inches. The front and rear are not visible in the images, but the design will be in line with the rest of the C3 range with a split headlamp design.

There’s no any info on the interior, but again it’s expected to be in line with the rest of the C3 range. It’s expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment with a fully digital instrument cluster. Other expected features include automatic climate control, connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, electric ORVMs, push-button start, rear AC vents, cruise control and more.

Talking about the powertrain, the Basalt could get the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged Petrol engine with 110 hp and 190 Nm torque. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The Citroen Basalt is expected to be launched by July 2024 and the prices could start from Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Basalt will be a direct rival to the upcoming Tata Curvv. It will also compete with VW Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. Considering its high-riding character, ground clearance, and coupe-like design it could have its own segment.
